Kabuliwala – A Retelling
In the bustling lanes of Calcutta in the late 19th century, life moved with its own rhythm — the cries of hawkers, the clatter of horse-drawn carriages, and the chatter of families in their courtyards. Amid this vibrant city lived Mini, a lively five-year-old girl with sparkling eyes and a boundless curiosity. She was the daughter of a gentle Bengali writer, whose days were spent immersed in books and reflections on the world around him.
Mini was a child of endless questions. She would chatter from dawn till dusk, asking about the sun, the stars, the people in the street, and even the mysteries of the kitchen. Her father often smiled at her innocence, sometimes amused, sometimes overwhelmed by her unending stream of words. It was in this household that a stranger from far away entered — a man whose presence would leave an indelible mark on their lives.
